Cubic Zirconia Jewelry As A Substitute For Diamonds

Wednesday, April 18th, 2012

Diamonds have been in use for jewelry for thousands of years. It is thought that they were first used and actively mined 3,000 years ago in India, but there is also proof that it was used there about 6,000 years ago. In those days it was virtually impossible to cut or polish the diamonds.

The recognition of diamonds as jewelry truly rose in the Eighteenth Century, at which time more ‘modern’ techniques permitted the acts of cutting and polishing to be achieved more easily. Successful marketing ploys helped make diamonds more popular to the general population.

Cartels of diamond miners and retailers such as De Beers restricted the quantity of diamonds which has successfully held the price artificially high for decades. An instance of extremely successful marketing is Argyle or brown diamonds in Australia

Brown diamonds were thought to be useless for jewelry because of their filthy colour. However, one mine in Australia produces 7,000 kg of brown diamonds a year, so initiated a campaign to make them desirable. These days, they may be worn as jewelry in Australia and sell nicely.

Because of the high cost of diamonds and the restricted supply, jewelers have sought a man-manufactured, cheaper alternative. Cubic Zirconia is one of the best man-made diamond-like substances that they have come up with so far.

Some people would rather buy cubic zirconia than real diamonds because they do not like to be manipulated and in the end cheated by the diamond firms. Surveys suggest that many diamonds have been improved to raise their perceived value and that much too many diamonds are too highly priced.

Some others are shying away from diamonds for reasons of conscience. ‘Blood Diamonds’ and forced child labour have made the headlines. The conditions in these forced labour camps is horrendous and was accurately depicted in the film ‘Blood Diamond’ with Leonardo DiCaprio.

Cubic zirconia is a very decent reproduction of diamonds and is difficult to distinguish from the real thing without specialist tools and a thorough knowledge of gemstones. Many well-known rich people are refusing to wear diamonds, not because they cannot afford them, but because of their above associations.

There are several other options to cubic zirconia including moissanite and nexus, but cubic zirconia is the firm favourite. Russian cubic zirconia is among the principal forms of the ‘gemstone’.

It is worth stating here that cubic zirconia does not exist in nature, although its raw form zircon (zirconium silicate) and zirconium dioxide does. Russian cubic zirconia is made to the specifications set down by the Gemological Institute of America.

If you are content to wear cubic zirconia, you will be treading the green path in jewelry and saving lots of money as well. Cubic zirconia is approximately 25% of the cost of diamonds, so you can afford to spend more on the setting rather than on the stone. Cubic zirconia looks fantastic in a solid platinum or pure gold mounting.

Turquoise – The Gemstone

Sunday, April 15th, 2012

Blue and green are two of the most popular colours among people and with nature – the sea, water, the sky and plants are all green or blue or turquoise, a greeny-blue. Turquoise is the colour of the open sea. It is not a difficult colour to like and it matches with most colour schemes.

Turquoise is not a especially rare gemstone, but it is rare in its finest state. It is mined in many countries including the USA, Iran, India and China. The word turquoise derives from an old French word for Turkey or Turkish, because it was first imported into Europe from Iranian or Persian mines via Turkey.

Turquoise is easily smashed and is just slightly stronger than glass, having a hardness of 6. Turquoise is one of the oldest mined gemstones and still, most of the world’s mines are small and hand-operated.

Some of the Iranian mines are 2,000 years old and still productive. However, the most ancient mines are on the Sinai Peninsular and they are known to be at least 3,000 years old as they were worked in the era of the pharaohs.

The colour fluctuates through greens and blues because of the existence or minerals. If there is more copper present the stone will become bluer and if there is aluminium or iron, it will become greener.

Iranian turquoise is some the best quality in the world and is used mainly in the jewelery industry. Turquoise from some other places, like the south-western states of America, is of lower grade and is too chalky and powdery for this use.

Unfortunately, chemists have discovered methods to enhance this gemstone, so that unless you are an expert or purchasing from a trusted source, you could easily end up purchasing poor grade turquoise that has been treated. This is the case with other gemstones as well.

Some of the tricks that they use are:

Chemicals can be applied to intensify the natural colour of the gem

Resin can be soaked into the pores of porous, friable, low-grade turquoise to ‘stabilize’ it – ie prevent it flaking and crumbling.

Totally untreated, natural turquoise of pleasant appearance is very rare and so very costly. It would be very hard to impossible for a layman to detect whether a stone has been treated or not, but you are unlikely ever to come across any.

Whatever, grade of turquoise you have, you will have to take care of it because it is quite soft, easily scratched and quite easily crushed to powder.

Therefore, do not leave it to rattle about in your bag and store it wrapped on its own in a cool, dark box. Extremes of temperature may harm it as well. Turquoise is naturally porous, even if it has been drenched in resin, so do not permit oils or perfumes to soak into it.

If you have to wash a turquoise, you will need nothing but a soft fabric and warm, but not hot, water. Dry the stone right away after washing with a second soft duster. Be careful not to score the surface with the dirt that you are cleaning off.

Jewellery Depicting Horses

Sunday, April 15th, 2012

Horse lovers and riding aficionados often like to demonstrate their affection for the animals and their hobby. There are a number of methods of doing this. Children might decorate their bedrooms with wallpaper with horses on it or wear badges.

I saw a car a while ago with the registration plate “HOR5E” and I have seen men wearing rings with a design of a horse running inlaid into the stone in gold. Women frequently wear brooches of a similar design or only the head of a horse.

Equestrian jewellery is smart and also timeless enough to be worn on any occasion. A beautiful horse’s head drawn in tiny diamonds makes a dazzling brooch, but so does one fashioned from gold or silver. In fact, numerous jewellers are realizing the popularity of equestrian jewellery.

Although the horse’s head brooch is almost certainly the most traditional article of equestrian jewellery, pendants are also well-liked these days. The jeweller can craft a larger figure when it is suspended about the neck than if it is pinned to the hair or clothing.

You might not have seen the type of jewellery that I am describing, but I bet that you have seen the Lucky Horse Shoe displayed somewhere. The Lucky Horse Shoe is just another aspect of equestrian jewellery. Many women like to wear them about their necks or on a Charm Bracelet.

The most famous symbol of a horse is almost certainly the Ferrari logo. The Ferrari logo of a rearing horse not only adorns their cars, but can also be seen on official Ferrari memorabilia such as Ferrari jewellery, Ferrari watches and Ferrari shirts and jumpers.

However, equestrian jewellery does not just come in the shape of the horses themselves. The accoutrements to riding are also often represented in jewellery. Men frequently use cuff links in the shape of tiny stirrups and women frequently wear silver or gold riding boots on their Lucky Charm bracelets.

Besides the above-mentioned equestrian lucky charms, I have also seen horse buckets, saddles and hunting horns on ladies’ charm bracelets or as single charms hanging from the ears or about the neck. They can also be worn as larger pieces as brooches.

Much of this type of jewellery is meant for the more well-to-do horsey set and for girls as they go through their horse-loving stage. Therefore, the articles are made in two distinct types: costly and the not so expensive – otherwise very few girls would have the opportunity to show their affection for their large four-legged friends.

The last group of people that can often be seen wearing equestrian jewellery is the gambler who likes to bet on horse racing. This is usually a man, but certainly not always.

These men will frequently wear pins of some kind depicting an aspect of their love of the sport and the animals. They may also think of them as lucky charms too.

Celtic Tattoos

Sunday, April 8th, 2012

The Celts are an ancient people, who almost certainly came from India many thousands of years ago. After getting to Italy, they made their way north-east through France to the United Kingdom. The Gauls were dominant in France by the time the Romans got there a little more than two thousand years ago, but the Celts were rock-solid in the UK.

In those days, the Celts lived all around the UK, but the Roman invasion pushed them back into the extremities of the land. As the Romans defeated the Celts in south-east Britain, the tribes either moved to Scotland or Wales or they mixed with the Roman invaders.

British Celts were well-known for their skin modifications, which is the modern terminology for tattoos and body art. The Celts and the Picts were body painters extraodinnaire. However, that was before Christianity. After Christianity came to the UK, the Celtic Cross became an vital symbol of Celtic symbology.

However, there are other Celtic symbols as well. The Welsh dragon is a Celtic symbol too. The Celts believed in fairies, so fairies are also Celtic symbols. The legends of King Arthur and the knights of the round table are also Celtic, as is Avalon and Camelot, no matter what the English tell you.

Ireland is also a prominent Celtic country and numerous Celtic symbols come from there as well, The famous Claddagh Ring is a typical Celtic design – the never-ending strings or ropes of time. Druids are also a powerful symbol of Celtic culture and the druids held oak trees in high esteem.

Retro is a big thing in modern fashion as people are beginning to disbelieve the myth that times will always be better. Young people are searching back for a restarting point, but as that is hard to find, they are picking up on symbols of their history. For lots of people of British origin, this is Celtic.

For others, it is just the romanticism of Celtic folklore. The Mabignogion, fairies, druids, dragons, King Arthur and the knights of the round table are all powerful images in peoples’ subconscious. People like to fantasise about the supernatural in these days of the cold, calculating computers, which govern our lives.

If you want to have a Celtic tattoo, you are almost certainly of Celtic descent and so you will already have a concept of the sort of tattoo that you want to have. It may be a decent idea to look for a tattoo artist who has knowledge of Celtic traditions and Celtic tattoos. This way, you may be more certain of the authenticity of your tattoo, if you are not au fe with Celtic images or tattoos.

Celtic tattoos could be classed as tribal tattoos – north-estern European tribal tattoos, but what most people do not know is that Britain was called that because its peoples wore body art and the Scottish Picts were known as that because they wore skin paint. The Celts were among the first to use body art, but absolutely not the only ones.

The Meanings Of Flower Tattoos

Sunday, April 8th, 2012

There are trends in tattooing, just like there are in jewellery, hairstyles and most other items and one of the rising trends is flower tattoos. This has much to do with the fact that more and more women like tattoos these days than ever before particularly in the Developed world. The good things about flower tattoos is that you do not have to modify them if you become divorced and their significance is not blatant.

Flower tattoos can have a subtle meaning or no meaning at all, depending on the whim of the wearer. If you opt to think that flowers have a extraordinary significance, then every type of flower or each arrangement of flowers may mean something different as well. ‘Say it with flowers’ is an old marketing slogan.

So, what do flower tattoos mean? Well, every nationality or each continent might understand something else by different flowers but here we will take a look at what many tattoo artists and tattooees say is intended by flower tattoos.

In general, flower tattoos conjure up thoughts of nature, airiness, light and gentility. Flowers remind us of life and even life despite adversity. ‘Per Ardua Ad Astra’ as the Royal Air Force saying goes. Who does not look for the first snowdrops or crocuses in the spring as a signal that the winter is drawing to a close?

If you think about the meaning of the colour of roses, it may help you pick what colour flower tattoo you want. For instance, a white flower may stand for clean living, purity, modesty or chastity. Red might mean the opposite or at the very least passionate. Yellow has the meaning of friendship or ‘friendly’ in roses. A quick search on Google will reveal the meaning of dozens of rose colours.

We all have our idea of what roses mean in the Developed world, but the same sort of meaning is attributed to the waterlily or the Lotus Blossom in the East. The Lotus Blossom has the additional meaning of good fortune, peace and tranquility. In other parts of the world, the Acacia flower denotes love and friendship

In Ireland, the Shamrock is the plant of good luck and numerous people of Irish descent wear a shamrock tattoo on their arm. Other well-liked flower tattoos in the West are Violets, which are said to represent a love of home, hearth and garden, because it is an old plant that often grew in cottages and hedgerows.

The Iris is said to symbolize wisdom and perception and the Magnolia a love of nature and, in particular, flowers themselves. The favourite flower tattoo in Wales is the Daffodil, the national flower of Wales. If you are not certain what meaning you would like to express with a flower tattoo, why not make up a posy of your favourite flowers and have that tattooed on?

Flower tattoos are better than words or the more traditional tattoos like anchors, because their meaning is ambiguous and you never need regret having the tattoo done, if you undergo a radical change in your life.

The Dancing With The Stars Tour

Thursday, April 5th, 2012

In 2006 ABC, the makers of Dancing with the Stars in the USA thought about maximizing the income from DWTS by taking the cast on tour. The first tour was organized on or about 25th October 2006. The show promised to bring as many of the celebrity cast and TV professional dancers on the tour as they could..

The Dancing with the Stars tour commenced small, but soon grew into big local activities all over the country. The first tour started on December 19th 2006 in San Diego, California and played at 38 different locations by February 11th 2007.

This first tour included such celebrity dancers as Drew Lachey, Joey McIntyre, Lisa Rinna, Joey Lawrence and Harry Hamlin and such professionals as Cheryl Burke, Kym Johnson, Louis van Amstel, Edyta Sliwinska, and Karina Smirnoff

The second tour of Dancing with the Stars was not as wide-ranging but included celebrities like Joey McIntyre, Apolo Anton Ohno, Drew Lachey, Joey Lawrence and Joey Fatone together with professional dancers Julianne Hough, Cheryl Burke, Edyta Sliwinska and last but not least, Kym Johnson.

The third tour was the largest thus far and again took in the festive season of Christmas and the New Year period from December 18th 2007 to February 10th 2008. It incorporated Sabrina Bryan, Monique Coleman, Joey Lawrence, Wayne Newton, Marie Osmond, Drew Lachey, Mario Lopez, Joey Fatone and Helio Castroneves for dancing celebrities.

Along with Mark Ballas, Derek Hough for a brief period, Alec Mazo, Edyta Sliwinska, Cheryl Burke, Jonathan Roberts, Kym Johnson, Brian Fortuna, Karina Smirnoff, and Julianne Hough as their professional partners.

The tours have to be quite short because the stars require lots of time to practice. Series actually begin quite soon after each other so there is not a lot of time left for touring.

It has been estimated that the tours do not bring in as much money as was hoped for and definitely not as much as the TV series, but they do keep the celebrities off the street corners and in gainful employment.

One of the major worries with a Dancing with the Stars tour is the number of people involved and the price of the cast. The tour has to play substantial venues and the locals have to be prepared to afford a fairly high ticket cost to cover the overheads. The five star hotel bills and first class flight costs alone are horrendous.

Still many fans will book tickets and pay these high prices because where else are they able to see so many well-known faces live in one space? The only other sort of show that offers this sort of proximity to half a dozen stars and half a dozen famous TV dancers is the Academy Awards, but the Oscars are not open to the general public.

The tours are likely to continue to get more and more successful as the TV programme grows in popularity, but the route of the tour stays a problem.

Owen Jones, the writer of this piece writes on quite a number of subjects, but is at present concerned with the Dancing with the the Stars message board. If you want to know more go to our web site at DWTS Pictures.

Why You Ought Not To Download Movies Illegally

Wednesday, March 21st, 2012

80% of Americans think it stealing to walk out of a store with a DVD that they did not pay for. Just half as many people think downloading a movie from the Net is a crime. The fact is that there is really no difference at all between the two; these are both serious crimes that are liable to be punished by by law.

If you download a movie from a P2P file sharing program, you do not have the permission of the individual or corporation who owns the rights to that movie.

This is the same thing as going to the DVD film store and putting a DVD in your bag and strolling out the door without paying. Peer-to-peer networks like BearShare, Kazaa , Vuze (aka Bittorrent) and LimeWire do not have the consent of the rightful owner to distribute copyrighted motion picture download files over the Internet, unlike legal sites..

Why Is File Sharing Of Movie Downloads Against the law?

The foremost object of copyrighting materials and DVD movies is for the protection of the rights of the individual or corporation initially responsible for the creation of the material (in our case movies).

Those who own the rights to protected material have the exclusive power to alter, duplicate or distribute their product.

Copyright laws are to prevent the sale or use of the protected material by unauthorized methods.

Imagine working day in and day out on an amazing research article for years, only to have it posted online for everybody to download free.

This is how artists and entertainers feel whenever their intellectual property is passed out for free all around the Net, providing them no compensation for it.

Now, you are beginning to see what is driving so many in the direction of legal action for motion picture downloads.

How To Tell What Is Real?

It may be a problem to tell if the site that you are visiting is legal or not. If the site that you are on is not a trusted site where you are certain that you are downloading completely licensed movies every time, then do not download a single movie.

Here are some tips on how to discern illegal movie download sites:

1.If the web site claims to have ?millions of movies to download? , ?80 million movies online?, ?movies,Television shows and music downloads? etc.. all for a small one time fee then you may almost be sure the web site will sell you P2P software.

2.Try looking at the small print in bottom part of the website?s front page. usually for illegal P2P movie download sites you will find some form of warning that looks like this: (most of these sites use the very same warning):

?There are currently millions of users downloading and trading files legally on file-sharing networks. You can|, for instance, legally download music from over 850 bands and more than 20,000 live concerts but also have access to numerous software titles and games. File sharing has enabled music fans from all over the world to build the largest library of recorded music in history.

File sharing is not illegal as long as you obey and comply with all relevant copyright regulations. Sharing copyrighted material without the permission to do so is illegal. You will find detailed directions on how to remain legal within the member’s area. The purchase of a membership, however, is not a license to upload or download copyrighted material. We urge you to respect copyright and share responsibly.?

Here is a different well-liked text you might find on these sites

?This web site has no affiliation whatsoever with the owner of this software program and merely provides links to freeware and/or shareware software, technical support and tutorials.?

3. Try looking for a genuine trust seal on the web site?s registration pages.

4.Several record companies, movie studios and individual artists post knowledge on their official website to let you know if they allow their copyrighted material to be distributed online. Be sure to check those precise sites before you download their material from any third party or share it with others.

Concerning Copyright of Movies.

Copyrights are only valid for fifty to one hundred twenty years. As soon as a copyright expires, the material that one at one time protected becomes open to the public. Material that is available in public domain can legally be reproduced, distributed and downloaded by anyone, anywhere, anytime. The majority of recent works are most likely protected currently under copyright regulations.

Where Can I Go If I Still Want To Download?

Everybody on Earth wants some form of entertainment from time to time, and for most of us it is music, video games, TV programmes, movies, PC applications, etc. With the threat of legal action hanging over your head with every movie you download, where may you go to be certain that the material you are listening to, watching, playing and downloading is legal?

The truth is that you have several choices, if you are still keen to build your collection by downloading movies from the Net.

* You could search the Internet for sites that supply updated lists of websites, where you may legally download, watch or burn to CD the files that you would like for a minimal fee. Enjoy full-length movies without any commercials or spyware to worry you.

* A number of television networks offer full episodes of their programmes with commercial interruption from their official site. Networks such as NBC, ABC and CBS typically offer new episodes of their shows the following morning after they are broadcast on air in their ordinary time slot (most of the time these are geo limited to the United States only).

* MySpace and Fox are working together to bring you Fox on Demand, permitting you to watch the most recent episodes of your favorite Fox programmes online for free.

* You will find full-length movies with expired copyrights and accessible to the public at Entertainment Magazine Online.

* If music is your thing, you could create a radio station of your own that just plays the genres and songs that you decide on with limited commercial interruption for a limited time every month for free at Pandora Radio. You can make playlists and listen to your favourites at FineTune.

With so many options at your disposal, there is no necessity to go astray and risk serious fines or jail time by downloading movies files illegally.

The Significant Risks Of Sharing Movie Files

The holders of copyrights have methods of finding out which movie download files are being shared by your computer.

All they have to do is get in touch with the authorities and send them your way because the law is in favour of the copyright holder. The RIAA sent letters to almost four hundred university students in 2007 related to illegal file sharing.

The students, not their schools, were each held responsible for paying the restitution required to resolve the claims against them for copyright infringement. In as little as six months, the RIAA had brought claims against over two thousand university students. These students were made to pay an average of $3,000 per person, not including court costs and attorney fees.

The RIAA is not merely targeting university students, this is only one example. It does not matter who you are, how old you are or where you live, if you download or share files on the Net illegally you will beheld responsible.

Even if you are a minor, do not think you will get away with it; they will come after your parents if they cannot get to you.

The Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) is also setting out to prosecute violators as well. So, it is not worth the danger you take with any other procedure.

Do not be mistaken in believing that legal action is the only danger to downloading files illegally from the Net.

You may be one of the number who does not worry about being caught, but do not consider that hackers might get into your system and download your personal and confidential data and use it for a horde of malicious things.

P2P file sharing programs work by letting the users connect to one another’s hard drives to copy files. Any files that you have in shared folders is accessible to anyone who wants to steal or copy them.

Numerous programs do not even use specialized folders for sharing, instead they simply supply users access to each other’s “Documents” folder. This means that all of your Word documents, photographs, banking software, and more could become at risk. You should know that on average one out of three computer attacks are the result of using P2P networks.

Peer-to-peer networks are one of the easiest methods for hackers to spread their spyware and viruses all over the Internet. All they have to do is make a file that contains a virus, but give it a name that is the same as a popular song or movie title. The P2P user downloads the file to his or her computer expecting to see the latest blockbuster, but instead all they get is a seriously infected computer.

Horror stories of what can happen to your computer if you use P2P file sharing programs are in abundance.

What You Should Do In order to avoid the significant consequences of downloading movies from the Net:

It is suggested that if you are using any P2P clients, you disable them instantly and remove their software from your computer.

A number of guides are obtainable with directions on disabling a peer-to-peer file sharing client and taking it off your machine. Simply type, “disable P2P” into your favourite search engine to find all the info you need.

The best way to avoid the consequences of illegal movie downloads is to sign up to a legal movie download website. These web site just charge a negligible one time fee, instead of the “per download” cost that you pay from other legal websites. Legal sites with movie downloads are becoming more and more popular as people are becoming worried about lawsuits, identity theft and computer damage.

These site offer faster movie download speeds than you will find on any of the illegal P2P networks because they are coming from their own server and are not limited to the amount of people sharing the file ,the movie being downloaded is not shared in the first place.

In addition, the quality of the movies downloaded tends to be much better because you have access to the full-length, licensed version, as opposed to something that was recorded by someone who smuggled a camera into the movie theater.

The movies that you get from legal sites you are able to watch instantly as they stream on your computer. You can| download them to your hard drive if you like to watch them later, or you could burn them to CD or DVD if you want to put on an external player.

It is strongly recommended that you use legal download sites to download movies from the Net. The subscription costs are cheap and the site is simple to use. Most importantly you are able to enjoy movies in peace without having to constantly look over your shoulder to be certain the MPAA, RIAA, FBI or a swam of hackers are not looking for you.

So you Want To Impress The Judges Of American Idol?

Friday, March 9th, 2012

If you are going on a reality game show like American Idol or Dancing with the Stars, it is a wise concept to give some thought to how to impress the judges. There are several fundamental tactics you can take.

The first is to merely do your best and hope for the best and the other is to research the likes and dislikes of the judges; work out from previous series which judges are the most powerful and then strive to please the two most influential judges.

The second alternative means devious means and plenty of research but do not think that it has never been tried. Whether or not the tactic was successful, we shall almost certainly never know, but given the immediate rewards and a lifetime of success, it is not surprising that contestants employ coaches and consultants to advise them win.

Mum and Dad bringing their hopeful teenage boy or girl down to the auditions is not how winners become successful any more. It takes planning, dedication, research, diligence and rehearsals. Lots of rehearsal.

If you go for the first alternative, then, it is not wise to merely sing your favourite song. The judges must have heard ‘I Did It My Way’ thousands of times at audition and Frank Sinatra did a version that is pretty hard to beat.

Attempt to find a song that is unusual, but also a song that you can identify with and sing well. This means research and rehearsals, but it is not worth turning up at the auditions unless you put a lot of effort into your song. The competition is just too fierce.

Nerves are a big problem for most people, even many professionals, so the judges will have seen that all before. you have to try to learn to deal with your nerves before the audition.

The best way of doing that is by singing in front of audiences. So, go to karaoke nights, do guest spots at bars, sing at parties, enter singing competitions, sing in the bath with the window open. Do anything you can to get used to performing in front of an audience.

This obviously takes time, so give yourself at least a year before you apply to attend an audition for a TV talent show, whichever field of entertainment you are interested in. If you are fairly inexpert at performing and you have no-one among your friends and family who is able to advise you, maybe you ought to consider getting in a coach to help you.

You will almost certainly just have one crack at the big time, so do not waste it. Emotionally, you will feel drained if you do not make it past the auditions, so do not let that happen to you without giving yourself every opportunity of succeeding.

Numerous people choose this option because of the fast results that it brings. If you are required to attend a do where you would like everyone to notice how beautiful your smile is, this is the best manner in which to do it.

How does the laser whitening of teeth work?

1. Teeth Cleaning: The dental technician or the dentist will begin the process by cleaning your teeth. This is vital because the plaque, that is present on your teeth, may have a major adverse impact on the teeth whitening process.

The outcome of the treatment is hugely affected by the current condition of your teeth. That is why they have to get cleansed first.

2. Application of Whitening Gel and Laser Treatment: Once your teeth have been cleaned, the technician will spread the whitening gel on your teeth. After the gel has been put on, you will be ready for the laser treatment. The objective of the laser is to speed up the whitening process of the gel.

Without the laser, it would take several minutes or even hours before the gel could affect your teeth; however, with the laser, the whitening ingredients in the gel are activated immediately, so that it produces bright white teeth almost instantly.

Is the laser whitening of teeth practical for everybody?

Just as with all professional laser whitening of teeth treatments, you should expect to pay a higher amount for laser treatment than for over-the-counter treatments.

The laser whitening of teeth is dearer than any other technician-assisted procedure.

If you are used to OTC teeth whitening products, you will be shocked at the cost of professional laser teeth whitening.

However, the price varies from clinic to clinic, but if you would like to get the best value for your money, you should do some extra research to discover which one is offering the best bargain.

Emeralds – The Green Stones

Monday, December 19th, 2011

The majority of women like jewellery, Many men do as well, but they tend to prefer gadgets and watches. In many countries women store their wealth in jewellery as exemplified by the Fifties song “Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend”. Asian women in particular accumulate gold.

However, precious stones and precious metals are generally perceived to be very valuable. Leaving the value of the jewelry aside, most people have a favourite colour.

Some like yellow gold, others prefer white. Some prefer the clarity and brilliance of diamonds, while others would rather have aquamarine, turquoise of green.

In fact, high-quality green gems are among the most expensive of all gemstones including diamonds. Emeralds are the most costly green gemstones weight for weight.

Gemstones are created underground at great pressures and they obtain their colours from the minerals involved in their composition. Gemstones are generally quite hard, because they were fashioned under great pressure.

In olden times, many people believed that gemstones had magical properties. The magical property attributed to emerald was the restoration of vision and the curing of eye illnesses.

In fact, emeralds are a kind of beryl and get their green colour from the element chromium or occasionally vanadium. Emeralds have a hardness of seven to eight; diamonds are the hardest at 10 on the Mohs Scale.

However, emerald has a great many inclusions (or faults), so it will shatter fairly easily. These inclusions give emeralds their typical fuzzy look.Nevertheless, the best emeralds are those that have a clear, transparent, even colour of green throughout.

Weight for weight, an emerald of top quality is more valuable than a diamond of comparable quality, which surprises most people. However, decent diamonds are easier to find than decent emeralds and hence the disparity in price.

Become very suspicious of stones that are called ‘something’ emeralds like Lithia emeralds or oriental emeralds. These are usually cheaper gemstones which are referred to as emeralds in order to boost their value. These stones are not emeralds and not worth much in comparison.

Because of the value of real emeralds, many ‘cheap emeralds’ are either not emeralds at all or are very bad specimens that are being held together by resin. It is very difficult for a greenhorn to know the difference between the decent and the bad, which makes it important to buy from a trustworthy jeweller or dealer.

Emeralds have been popular since the times of the pharaohs and there are emerald mines in Egypt. There are also emerald mines in Siberia, Brazil, Zambia, Pakistan, South Africa, India and Australia amongst other places.

In spite of the fact that there appears to be many sources of emeralds, good quality gemstones are still hard to get hold of at a decent price. However, there are no equivalents to emerald, so if you like the best, you can expect to pay handsomely for it.

As with all costly gemstones, you ought to get a signed certificate of weight and quality when you purchase an emerald.
