If you are into charity work, then you will realise how difficult it is to come up with new ideas for helping people or raising money, especially if you are on ‘the committee’.

Not everyone agrees with charity work, believing that governments ought to take on the function of charity worker, but no one could refute that governments are not doing enough, so individuals and charitable organizations have to step in.

As a supporter or as a charity worker, you obviously have the right to choose whom you support. A hundred years ago, middle class charity workers attempted to help the local poor; then after the Second World War, charities started searching further afield and Africa and other places became the focus of their assistance.

These days, the cycle has turned full circle for many of individuals and they are beginning to look to the local underprivileged again. The old expression that ‘Charity Begins At Home’ appears to be ringing true with people again. So what could you do to assist the local poor?

The YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids, USA, has come up with a fresh idea. They found that numerous people bought at least one swimming costume every year. Those individuals may hang on to them until the next year, if they especially liked them, but they would still buy a new swimming costume every year.

The thing is, that individuals hang onto their old swimming costumes until one day, they find them at the back of the draw and it occurs to them to throw them out. Sometimes, for ladies, the top half will break – a strap or the clasp – and they are left with a pair of bottoms. Men tend to hang onto their bathers for years.

At the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids, they decided to initiate a campaign to collect all the old swimming costumes, jumble them all up and invite parents and kids in to choose a ‘new’ swimming costume.

A lot of the kids that turned up, particularly the girls, had never had a swimming costume before – they had always worn cut down jeans and a t-shirt.

Now, there are several ways you could go about this, when you have collected your boxes of swimming costumes. You can try to create sets for girls – tops and bottoms that match – or you could merely throw them all together and let individuals have the fun of making up a two article swimming suit.

If you are trying to raise money for something like school books or a new church roof, then you could make a fixed price per swim suit. However, if you are trying to attract adults or kids to your establishment – say a Sunday School or a local community centre – you could place a promotional leaflet in with every costume when it is bagged.

You could also have volunteers standing about willing to give fashion advice or you could sell tea or coffee and homemade cakes. Whichever way you look at it, this is a very nifty concept for helping individuals acquire an affordable/free swimming costume and get your concept over.

A Day On The Beach For A Typical Muslim Family

Sunday, April 15th, 2012

The experiences and ways of spending leisure time differ across the religions. Places, foodstuffs, and clothes are different across cultures and religions. So, a day at the beach for a Muslim family is distinct from that of those people belonging to other faiths. In Islam, it is compulsory for a woman to dress humbly without exposing her beauty.

When an average Muslim family plans to go to a beach, the way of spending that day is totally different from a non-Muslim family. Muslim women cannot opt to wear swimsuits which display their bodies.

The ways of enjoyment vary between cultures and religions. Muslim women also enjoy a day at the beach but their way of enjoyment is not the same.

They might not bask in the sun in two-piece suits exposing their bodies. They have to plan for their trip to pools and beaches differently. A Muslim family spends time at the beach joyfully while taking notice of the teachings and confines preached by Islam.

They prepare some food to eat at the beach. Usually, Muslims are family-oriented individuals and they plan to go to leisure places with their whole family. Children play different games at the beach, while the women spend most of their time watching their family swimming in the water or offering food.

There is no restraint on Muslim women swimming too. The biggest concern for a Muslim woman is to wear very unassuming clothing. They avoid pomp and show in their dressing. There are some criteria which the swimwear of a Muslim woman should meet.

The first principle is to wear a three piece swimming suit covering all of the body including the head. Just face, hands and the feet may be exposed. These days, there are very stylish and good quality head covers available in the market.

The second vital concern is to pick swimwear that is made of such a cloth that does not cling to the body when it is wet. The swimwear should not highlight the body shape of the Muslim woman.

The cloth of the swimwear ought to not absorb much water so it should be water repellent to keep it light in weight. Muslim women generally prefer to wear bathing costumes manufactured of nylon or polyester. Wearing such clothing has a double advantage. Such garments should neither stick to the body nor hinder movement in the water.

A Muslim woman also likes swimming whilst following religious values and traditions. A trip to a beach always brings excitement to the life of a Muslim family. A day at the beach for a Muslim family is not as dull and dowdy as it seems.

Muslims choose their own manner of having fun and diligently sort out ways of spending their free time.

It may be said undeniably that a Muslim family has to follow some restrictions and that their day out at a beach is not free from numerous religious and cultural implications. Muslims do their best by pre-arranging things to make their day out at the beach as happy as they can.

Owen Jones, the writer of this piece, writes on various topics, but is currently concerned with swimwear for muslim women. If you would like to kcurrently more, please visit our web site at Swimwear For Big Busts.

Omega 3 Essential Fatty Acids

Sunday, April 8th, 2012

Omega 3 essential fatty acids are frequently in the news, but they appear to drift in and out of public consciousness. Let us review the terminology, they are known as ‘essential’ because they cannot be created in adequate quantities by our bodies. In other words, we have to eat them.

The supreme importance of Omega 3 essential fatty acids actually came to light in the 1970′s while a group of Danish scientists found than Inuits in Greenland had a far lower rate of cardiovascular problems than Europeans and Americans, despite ingesting a diet high in fat.

However, the difference between the diets was that the Inuits got their fat from sea creatures whereas the other nationalities got theirs from land animals. The significance of Omega 3 essential fatty acids was established

Once that original research had been verified, other studies on the same issue were carried out by other groups and they all confirmed the significance of Omega 3 essential fatty acids in our diets. These substances help avert heart disease, cancer, diabetes and macular degeneration and will also alleviate these conditions if you did not find out about them until it was ‘too late’.

Our main source of Omega 3 essential fatty acids is oily fish like tuna, salmon and mackerel fish and other sea foodstuffs. Research backs up the age-old old wives’ tale that fish is brain food. It really is, but it also goes further than that. Omega 3 can help stave off many of the so-called age-related complaints like memory loss apart from the ones already mentioned above.

Some research has also indicated that a lack in Omega 3 in children may lead to learning disorders like hyperactivity and attention disorders. There could also be a link to dyslexia. Other disorders that are more certainly linked to a deficiency of Omega 3 are depression, some allergies and arthritis. This means that pregnant mothers ought to be watchful of their intake of Omega 3.

This fish oil has also been seen to reduce the seriousness of high levels of cholesterol and triglycerides. It also seems to have a beneficial, anti-aging impact on the skin and wrinkles if taken internally as part of a healthy, balanced diet. Most dietitians would recommend eating oily fish twice per week, but that does not mean that you cannot ingest it in capsules.

It is important to see Omega 3 in relation to other essential fatty acids like omega 6. Omega 6 and omega 3 vie for the same place in our systems and that place is just so big. If you eat too much omega 3, omega 6 cannot get a look in and vice-versa. It is a broad issue, so you are advised to do more research or take the recommendation of a dietitian.

However, before you accept everything that they say, ask about the interaction of omegas 3 and 6 and see what they have to say.

Owen Jones, the writer of this piece, writes on numerous subjects, but is now concerned with lowering cholesterol without medication. If you want to know more, please visit our site at What Foods Lower Cholesterol?

Should I Be Taking Supplements?

Thursday, March 22nd, 2012

We are all more conscious of our health nowadays, almost certainly because not so many of us work hard physically any more, our diet of junk food has turned us into fat lumps and the health care industry is continuously telling us how unhealthy we are in order to sell us more treatments. Whatever the reasons, most people are striving harder to take care of themselves.

There are different methods to approaching this problem of being unhealthy and some of the reason for this depends on why you are unhealthy and some of it on your personal approach to things. For example, some people will know that they have got into an unhealthy rut and will attempt lifestyle alterations like exercising more and eating more healthily, whereas others will purchase a load of pills and hope that they do the job.

Then there is the middle road. We are busy and we do not all have an hour a day to spend at the gym and some of us could not work out even if we wanted to. So, the middle way, might be to exercise as frequently as you can by hiking or practicing yoga at home; eating more healthy food, that is foodstuff that you can eat raw or that you cook yourself and by taking a couple of supplements.

Which supplements might you decide on? Well, that really depends on your diet. There is not much use in taking calcium tablets if you eat cheese sandwiches for luncheon, a T-bone steak for dinner and drink milk each day, but there might be a decent reason for taking calcium supplements if you are a vegan.

I have a friend who will not eat vegetables and especially greens, but, knowing that his diet lacks fibre amongst other items, he eats porridge for breakfast and snacks on fruit. Another friend hates fish, he cannot even look at it, but he is aware of the value of omega 3 essential fatty acids and so he takes it in the form of capsules. He almost certainly gets more omega 3 than I do and I love fish.

So, the first thing to do is note down everything that you eat for a week or two and then analyze what is lacking in your diet. The analysis might be above you, although it probably is not, but you could take your diary or food to your medical doctor or dietitian. It might surprise you a lot to find out exactly what you eat during a week.

As a point of interest, the majority of rural Thais do not eat beef or produce cheese or drink milk, so over the centuries they have added small bones to their diet. In the West if we get a small bone in our mouth, we tend to remove it, but a Thai will crunch it to tiny pieces and swallow it – fish bones, small bird bones, frogs bones. Not only does it replace the missing calcium but it keeps their teeth strong in a country that is only just developing dentistry for the masses.

Ways To Get Your Child Interested In Religion

Sunday, March 4th, 2012

Whether you yourself have an interest in religion or not, there might come a time when you consider it your duty to offer your child the chance to discover religion for itself. You might be an atheist or you might have a particular creed or religion that you prefer, but is that a reason to make your child follow you?

Most children do not associate church with fun (and you might well argue that fun has nothing to with it), so how to you inspire an interest in religion? There seem to be just two ways: you can either make it more fun or you can force them. We all know that force tends to have the opposite effect from the one required, so how do you make going to church fun or at least interesting?

The beginning of going to church alone for most children is Sunday School, so you could start there. This is not about you or your religious education, so whatever you believe, you could go along to the Sunday Schools of a few local churches and find out what activities they hold.

If the Sunday school is dull and boring, your child will not remain there and may be put off for decades or even life. Going to church or to Sunday schools ought to be about religious education and moral guidance not about coercion and indoctrination.

You do not have to have faith in everything your religious instructor tells you to become a decent, moral, religious person no matter which denomination you belong to. There are not many religious teachers in any church who would say that they ‘know it all’. If they did they would not have to to pray for guidance themselves!

Events that young children may find interesting are approximately the same as those they would do in a standard school, but with a slightly more religious bent. These include: painting, drawing, singing, reading, story-telling, playing and sports. The extra reading practice at Sunday school may truly give your child the edge when it comes to the state school curriculum as well.

Older children will like sport, dancing (barn dances, line-dancing, ballroom dancing), singing, putting on plays and discussion classes. Children outside this environment will almost certainly never act in a play or never learn to Tango in their lives, yet it is a godsend in life to have done it at least once.

Debating is another skill that most individuals do not have either. Learning fund raising and public speaking are excellent skills that are not taught frequently in state schools any more either.

If your children do not like the Sunday school that you would like them to attend, let them go to another one. Any extra education is better than none or roaming the streets. In my case, my parents were Spiritualists, but my mother’s family were Catholics.

My school was Church of Wales (similar to the Church of England), the Boy Scouts I was in were Methodists, but they went to a Baptist Church because it was closer. I enjoyed the singing in all the churches and I still know the songs 45 years later!

Owen Jones, the writer of this article, writes on a number of topics, but is now concerned with Korean religious belief. If you would like to know more go to What is Religious Belief?

How Parents Use LeapFrog Connect

Wednesday, February 15th, 2012

Leapfrog sells games for their devices according to age and grade level. This means that each child who uses a device may have lots of games, which makes it hard for parents to keep track of their progress. This doesn’t have to be an issue anymore, though, with the use of a program called LeapFrog Connect. It lets you keep track of all games, devices and game results at the click of a mouse.

All a parent has to do to use this great service is go to the official Leapfrog website to join the program. Start a new account and download the software that is offered. It will download directly to your computer, meaning there is no additional toy or device to buy in order to use it.

After downloading comes time for installation of the program, which takes just a few minutes of time. After installation it is time to customize the program by following directions. You will need to create a user name and password and use any other prompts given by the program during installation.

In order for the software to keep tabs on each child’s games, each game device must be connected to the program. This is very easy to do, and you only need a basic USB port to do it. Connect each device via USB and it will sync with the Connect program, allowing parents to keep track of each device.

Repeat this process with each device and then you are done with the setup. After this, it will be easy to log in to the program and check out what new activities and levels your child has reached on that particular toy. It also gives you the chance to see what subjects the child does well in and which ones they may need some improvement on.

Sit down with your child and have a discussion about their results. This helps them learn and fosters communication about what they need help in. Set up a plan to help them in these problem areas so that they can begin to succeed. The success from the games may carry over to all other subjects as well.

The program also lets you keep track of a child’s rewards that they receive by completing games and levels. Discussion of these rewards and the success they imply is a great way to interact with the child and celebrate their individual success and accomplishments. This helps bolster self esteem and gives them the confidence to continue playing and learning not just on their devices but in real life and at school as well.

In addition to fostering communication and giving a child confidence, LeapFrog Connect encourages better learning. The kids think they are just playing a game and having fun, but they are also learning instead. Since each game is designed to enhance what kids are already learning in school, this means that they are getting a double dose of education. Children smile because they are having fun and parents smile because they can keep track of their child’s progress using the software.

Donating Clothing To Charity

Sunday, February 12th, 2012

Do you sort through your wardrobes from time to time or do you hoard all you ‘old’ clothes for years and years? Some individuals never, ever throw out any clothes. Maybe they are waiting for them to come back into style or maybe they are hoping to lose enough weight to get back into them. However it might be a good idea to have a regular clean-out, but do not throw those clothes away, donate them to a charity shop or a church bazaar instead. By donating clothes to charity, not only will it give you more room, but you will be helping to raise money for charity as well.

Additionally, you will be giving someone else the chance to acquire good quality clothing at a knock-down price. By donating clothes to charity, you will, in effect, be recycling your clothes and doing your bit for the environment at the same time.

When you are donating clothes to charity, they have to be spotless, complete and undamaged. Check that there are no buttons missing, that they are not ripped or stained. Some of the bigger charity shops also take other household items as well such as books, ornaments and furniture. The same applies to these items with regard to quality.

There is a wide variety of charities for you to pick from when donating clothes to charity. For instance, there are: shops run by: Dr Bernardo’s, The Salvation Army, Oxfam and Shelter and churches and the Guides and the Scouts are always holding jumble sales and bazaars.

It is not right to think that the only people who use these charity shops are the itinerant and the penniless. People from all walks of life visit charity shops on a regular basis hoping to pick up decent clothing or unusual items and the money they spend on these articles of donated clothing provides a quite large and recurring income for the charities involved. They have come to depend on this significant source of income.

Some communities also hold special events like a ‘Winter Coat Drive’ where people in the community contribute a new or used coat to the distributing organization, which then redistributes them to the needy. These drives can be aimed at all age groups, but they usually target children as the most innocent of the needy.

There are many sorts of organizations that accept charitable donations of clothing. For example, there is another one that accepts smart ladies’ business clothing. The idea is that when women want to come off welfare or begin a new life after being in an abusive relationship, they can have a suit for their job interviews.

So, you see, whatever your political beliefs or wherever your social sympathies lie, there are organizations that will fit in with your charitable ambitions. In deed, a lot of people find the massive charities like Bernardo’s and Shelter just a little too large and a little too impersonal so they prefer to give their spare clothing to a local charity that helps local people.

Owen Jones, the author of this article writes on quite a few subjects, but is at present concerned with thinking about low rise panties. If you would like to know more or check out some great offers, please go to our website at Personalised Knickers.

The Hello Kitty Brand Just Gets Better and Better

Friday, February 3rd, 2012

More than twenty years ago, I remember going to my local shopping center and purchasing all manner of things Hello Kitty. Back then, Hello Kitty was something new for young girls and even older girls. Today, Hello Kitty is still around and my twins like Hello Kitty too. That is cool! How I liked Hello Kitty fifty years ago!

Wow, that is a long time to share the love of Hello Kitty with a lot of kids and now my twins love her too. This lovable toy (character) seems to find its way through each generation. I remember when Hello Kitty was brought into the marketplace, at least when I first saw her in stores and malls.

I remember my mall had a Hello Kitty store, full of all this Hello Kitty merchandise. I must have been nine or ten when I purchased my first Hello Kitty doll.

I was purchasing this gorgeous kitty cat and so were my friends. All my friends, from the district and school, had this little kitty and I remember taking mine to school and showing off my latest ?pet? toy.

You may think the Hello Kitty toy (character) was created in Japan, but that is incorrect. As it turns out, Hello Kitty and her family, was created in Europe in 1974. Now, the company that makes this endearing character is Sanrio, a Japanese firm, but she was created in Europe.

Did you realise that Hello Kitty has a twin sister? Yes, her twin sister?s name is Mimi and her parents are George and Mary. It is as if these characters are real, in a sense. As I stated above, now my twins, who are not indistinguishable, like Hello Kitty and are best friends just like Mimi and Hello Kitty are.

The Hello Kitty brand has expanded in a big way. When this product was first produced, all that was available to little girls were some toys and note books. Now, almost everywhere you go, mall, strip mall, mass retailers and online, you will find garments such as tank tops, shirts, jumpers, socks, boots, flip flops, umbrellas, watches, rings, necklaces, backpacks, luncheon boxes, clocks and so much more.

Anything you want can be found in their stores and online. There seem to be more goods online than in stores, but it appears more and more Hello Kitty products are being produced and added everyday.

Some more things you child might like are a selection of video games – there are quite a few video games to play these days. Along with video games, there are movies, books, stickers and tattoos. The theme of Hello Kitty goes on and on. It does not matter where your child is, they can get and or use Hello Kitty.

If your youngster is having a party, you can purchase party plates, cups, decorations and face painting kits. If you or your child has a mobile phone, you can now use a cell phone cover or case for your iPhone4.

Little girls, or older girls, can buy Hello Kitty bedding as well. For adult women, if you use a credit card, a Hello Kitty Credit Card is now obtainable too. Hello Kitty has been and continues to remain a very well-liked brand for kids and adults alike.

Owen Jones, the author of this piece writes on many subjects but is presently involved with Hello Kitty from Japan. If you would like to read more, please go over to our web site entitled Kitten Cannon 3.

Spending Time With Your Friends Is Better For Your Emotional State

Tuesday, January 31st, 2012

People ought to unplug their computers and TVs if simply to spend additional quality time with their family members. As time spent by family members on the computer and Television increases, time with family continues to suffer. Results of studies on American families disclose that household members are spending a reduced amount of time with other household members. On the average, an internet user spends 3 hours online every day, while viewers spend an average of 1.7 hours every day watching Television.

The appearance of social networking technology gradually changes the connotation of “friendship”. Instead of family members being attentive to one another, they are engrossed with their online associates. This results in families whose members are ignoring one another. Coming leaders and dependable individuals are raised in the home. The home is where children understand the values of trust, support, kindness, and how to handle anger, loss, embarrassment, etc. In the home, parents give kids emotional support and function as capable role models.

No other social institution can serve as an emotional structure. Many teenagers of today show that they are intelligent, but they are lacking in emotional aptitude. They are not well-prepared to “comprehend” other people – not even their own selves. The power of anyone to understand, translate and manage his or her own emotions is calculated by emotional intelligence. Someone can only discover this when he or she is given the time to live, work, and play with actual people.

What happens nowadays in numerous families is that people spend more and more time either with their online associates or their Television news and superheroes. A survey on internet use done way back in 2004 revealed a substantial relationship between spending time online and time spent with other household members. For each hour spent online on a daily basis by a typical user, he or she loses 23.5 minutes that could be spent with his or her family. In addition, the typical surfer also gets a lesser amount of sleep; an average of 8.5 minutes per day for each hour used up online.

If online acquaintances, games and Television programs turn out to be more notable than the actual people that family members live with, then families will suffer. Families ought to spend more time with “real” friends in their homes. Getting together around the dinner table or taking an inexpensive family jaunt are just some uncomplicated ways of family bonding. Families grow to be more unified when they are interacting face-to-face more regularly. By doing so, each person will come to understand each others genuine interests and discern what they think and feel.

Usually I do not write about spending time with friends and family. I’m so busy writing about surfing with an IP changer to defend your Internet identity that I tend not to spend time with my own kids. So I thought I would write this piece and then unplug for a week.

What Type Of Privacy Rights Do Children Think They Have

Monday, January 16th, 2012

Parents need to award their children privacy as to time and space as they become older. The principles of trust and responsibility are initially learned by children in the family unit. Because of this, children require parents who can let them live in an environment that nurtures trust and dependability. This can happen if children begin to come across in the family unit the privacy that they must have.

Parents occasionally get troubled when they recognize that their son or daughter desires his or her own personal time. When handled in a wrong manner, kids will find it difficult to learn to develop belief and conscientiousness. The best means for parents to cope with this type of situation is to chat with their kid. They should ask why he or she wants to be alone.

It is very crucial for parents to understand the reason why he or she needs some personal time and space. Then, they should determine whether their son or daughter is telling the truth. It is also crucial that they make sure that the basis given is an element of maturing, and not for hiding anything. A child who wishes to be by his or her self too regularly is not common and it can be a signal that he or she needs therapy.

Once the parents are sure that their child shows ordinary behavior, they should openly give positive support atmosphere. The first stage is for both parents and child to sit down jointly and set a number of rules. One simple rule is knocking on the door prior to entering one’s area. This should be appropriate also to parents, not just to the child. This also means that parents should not be intimidated when their teen puts a “Do Not Disturb” sign on his or her door. This is a sign of growing up, but they should also be vigilant.

Various relationship problems can be avoided if parents defer to their child’s privacy. Too much interference can make children feel insulted. They feel that they will not do the proper things when they are out of vision. Children do not have the opportunity to build confidence in different people, specifically when they are set to go out to the larger world. It is because the household was not an atmosphere that built confidence. As parents work for the defense of their children, they should also try to balance it with privacy.

Privacy is not something that is automatic. It needs to be defended. When on the web, 1 of the best ways to protect your Internet privacy is to use an anonymous proxy to change your IP address.
