We rarely notice the cars that appear in our favorite movies, but the fact is that they play large role in setting the overall tone. Aston Martin’s ooze class and wealth while “bad boys” can often be seen driving around in American muscle cars. Here is a list of the most famous and memorable cars to ever hit the big screen.
Aston Martin DB5 “GoldFinger”- Aston Martin is well known for its elegant, good looking and powerful cars. The gorgeous DB5 has made an impressive appearance in both “Goldfinger” and “Thunderball” movies from the James Bond franchise. The actual DB5 model that was driven by Sean Connery in the movie was recently purchased at a British auction at the price $4.6 million dollars. The engine is 4.0 Liters and is able to reach top speeds of up to 145 mph.
Ford Coupe-”American Graffiti”- The 1932 Deuce coupe is memorable for its final drag race scene in the cult classic movie “American Graffiti”. This bright yellow ride comes with a V8 3.6 Ltr engine and puts out 60 hp. Deuce’s role emphasizes the significance of the Ford brand in popular American culture.
Bumblebee-”Transformers “- In the movie “Transformers” Bumblebee has the ability to transform into a robot, an “Autobot”. She is also gorgeous, sporting a sunny yellow color with black stripes to resemble a real bee! Unfortunately Bumblebee was involved in a recent car accident which was not part of the script. She was hit on the side by a police SUV in Washington DC. If you want to have your own Bumblebee now you can, thanks to Chevrolet’s Transformers Special Edition package for the Camaro. This will get you Autobot insignia fender bags and wheel caps and more Autobot insignias in the interior in addition to the classic Bumblebee yellow and black exterior.
Ford Edge-”Quantum Of Solace” – I watched this movie in theaters and could hear the audience gasp in shock as Mr Bond emerged from a Ford Edge, of all cars. This wasn’t just any Ford Edge, but an environmentally friendly Ford Edge powered by a hydrogen fuel cell.
Delorean DMC 12-”Back To The Future”- This vehicle achieves the impossible and breaks the laws of quantum physics. In the movie the DMC is able to travel back in time when hitting exact speeds of 88 mph. In our book, that makes the Delorean one of the coolest cars ever.
Mustang GT-”Bullitt”-The iconic Mustang GT can be seen in an intense scene in the flick “Bullitt”, which was released in 1968. The car is super powerful for its time and as a matter of fact, it’s still powerful for today! Equipped with an impressive a V8 engine with 325 HP, this smooth and cool ride had a major role in an intense seven minute car chase scene.
These cars have all grown to be super famous, a good example is the DB5 which sold for over 4 million dollars. Take a closer look at the cars in the background the next time you go to the cinema, you might just be looking at a future star!
