As I am imagining being in this spiritual place I also imagine what the place smells like and also how it feels being there. Taking the time to visit the location inside your mind’s eye prior to you going there will deepen your link with the surrounding land.
After I’ve spent time tuning in with the land, I then use my inner voice to inquire the land if it’s ok for me to go there on the heart walk. This internal voice is similar to the internal voice you hear when you’re looking at the phrases on this web page right now. For example as you are reading these words I’m creating just for you, start to pay attention that there is a subtle internal voice going on within you. Like there’s a little voice going on within you while you are looking at these words. To me it’s comparable to a gentle whisper as I’m reading the words. This really is similar to your inner voice.
You can then use this inner voice to inquire of the land if it’s okay for you personally to go and spend some time with it. It’s an internal conversation which you have directly with the land before you go to the location you’re feeling drawn to. Utilizing this internal voice, I usually let the land understand what it is I’m eager to do in addition to why I am eager to go there. Then it’s a matter of just listening to the voice back from the land.
For instance, just as also have this gentle inner voice, so too does the land. After you inquire about a question to the land, your main job then is to listen to the messages back from the land. This inner conversation is more about listening rather than talking. Just listen and imagine what the land is stating back for you. If you don’t get a sense of hearing anything back, then use your internal voice once more to ask a question and wait around for an answer. This inner conversation is more about listening rather than speaking. About listening to the voice inside the land.
I often find the land usually talks fairly slowly. That it has a slower pace compared to the hustle and bustle of our contemporary life. I also discover that occasionally it requires some time for the land to open. This is probably because it’s been some time since the land has had this inner conversation with another human being.
Nevertheless, after you have linked to the land inside your mind’s eye, use your internal voice to ask the land whether it is okay to go on the heart stroll. Then pay attention for your reaction from the land. In many cases you will be able to pick up to a soft internal voice in the land talking back at you.
Sometimes it’s a feeling I get back again within the land. A feeling as to whether or not it is a yes or perhaps a no to spend time performing a heart stroll with the land.
Discover how to deepen your spiritual relationship with the earth.

Another typical question I get from individuals who want a sense of relaxation is ‘What do you take on the heart stroll?’
There is not a lot you need to take on your heart stroll. For instance, all I generally bring is a small notice pad that fits into my back again pocket along with a pen. Inside this note pad I have my intention jotted down. Then as insights from nature come through from nature I will generally make some notes and sometimes draw a sketch of what I see. I usually discover this helps me later throughout the integration phase of my heart stroll after i am reflecting on all of the messages I’ve obtained from the wilderness.
Some people also bring a bottle of drinking water and a few snacks with them when they go on the heart stroll. However I find the less distractions I bring the better. Similarly with shoes and clothes. Generally I’ll go barefoot while on a heart walk as I’m in a position to really feel more of the land via the soles of my feet. And the less clothes I bring, the less I have to worry about taking good care of. The heart walk is more about melting into and becoming 1 with the land rather than insulating ourselves from it.
As I travel towards the land I really feel drawn to, I usually have my little journal pad along with a pen beside me. Throughout this time I usually drive in silence with no radio on. This gives me time and space to dwell further on my intention and to put more energy into it. I find the more power I put in to the intention, the clearer the messages I obtain from the wilderness.
I also find that as I put time and power in to the intention that preliminary insights will come to me. After i get an insight I pull over and will either write the perception down or draw a little sketch if it is a picture which has come to me. On a variety of occasions, the messages the wilderness was wanting to give me have arrived to me while driving towards the spot I felt drawn. On these occasions I thanked the land with my internal voice and turned back again with out even stepping 1 foot to touch the land.
Your heart walk begins the moment you start placing energy into your intention. It is not just about heading for a walk through the wilderness. It is more about becoming open for the messages the wilderness is attempting to give you. The energy that you place into your intention is reflected back again to you. The more energy you place in, the more powerful is reflected back again in the sort of insights, symbols and messages through nature.
When i get to the area of land I feel drawn to I then invest a bit of time entering into ‘the zone’ and becoming one with the land. I’ll cover ways to get into ‘the zone’ later within this post but it is essentially about getting away from your thoughts, into your senses, tapping in to the pull of your heart and deciphering the constant messages that nature is giving us. Getting into ‘the zone’ is tapping in to the religious dimension past the one we usually see.
Discover how you can dwell in a state of relaxation and melt into the land.

This state of no tension and inner peace inside both your body and mind allows for a deeper link with the land.
To connect even further to the land around me I will spend a little of time doing the tree meditation. To complete the tree meditation I will shut my eyes and place my attention and awareness on the bottom of my feet. For example, if I am standing on sand next to the seaside I’ll really feel what the sand is like next to the pores and skin on the soles of my feet. I’ll feel the delicate textures and how the tiny grains of sand are touching next to my skin. Or when the sand is wet how the wetness of the sand feels next to the skin at the bottom of my feet.
Or maybe if I am standing on dry sticks and leaves, I’ll really feel what it’s like to have a few of the sharp twigs push next to and dig in to the skin around the soles of my feet. Sensing the subtle nuances in the textures next to the soles of my feet. How my forefeet feels compared to where my heel touches the ground. Compared to the arches of my feet. Feeling the contact of my feet against the earth.
Once you are aware of this pressure and also have invested a couple of moments sensing and connecting with your sensations next to the soles of your feet, you can then imagine what it is like to shoot roots down through your feet. A lot like how a tree experiences the earth. Imagine what it’s like to send roots down through the topsoil, through the underlying clay layers, around the rocks within the earth below your feet until you reach the underlying bed rock below exactly where you are standing.
Really feel how it is to be linked to the earth below. Roots sent deeply into the earth. Really feel the solidness of this. The groundedness of being rooted within the earth. Much as you imagine a tree feels.
When you have explored this experience of becoming grounded by sending roots down underneath the soil layers, then place your attention onto the body. You’ll likely discover there’s a slight sway happening with your physique. Much like the way a tree will sway gently within the wind. Just be with this mild swaying and allow your body to sway and gently move the way in which it moves. Getting in synch with the groundedness of the root connection of the earth, and becoming the swaying link up in the sky. Connecting to the earth below and connecting with the sky above. The strong rootedness and also the swaying sky link.
When in this state of inner peace you’ll discover there’s a middle point. A location in your experience that is at the middle of being grounded to the earth beneath and connected to the sky above. For most individuals this really is around their heart center. Symbolically this level represents walking around the earthly surface. Walking with your heart alongside the earth whilst being grounded to the earth beneath and connected with the spirit of the sky overhead. Being in this middle place while connected both overhead and beneath is a good spot to be on your heart walk.
Living inside the wilderness allows you to get a perception of inner peace and also to find your genuine self in nature.

If you are in a state of spiritual no-mind you will probably notice that you are more conscious, more current towards the present second. To what’s about you. You are able to be with what you’re currently with. In a state of no-mind. Like the current second becomes lengthier. Like your preception of present reality is slowed down.
I prefer to label this way of being as living in ‘innocence’. The reason is simply because this really is how infants and youthful toddlers see the planet. There is not much going through their thoughts. They are in a state of innocence and are merely becoming with what it is they are being with. In a being relationship with their surrounding environment.
And also you can tap into this state of innocence at any time, merely by putting your consciousness, your attention on the gap between your ideas. It is in this space exactly where the magic happens. In the state of innocence. No matter what is going on in life around you, this gap of no-mind is always present. It is only a matter of shifting your concentration from reasoning instead onto no-mind. This may usually make you drop more in to the current moment.
The other way the mind takes us away from tuning into with what is is through labels. For example, in the event you look at a tree, the labels you give to parts in the tree will probably be ‘tree’, ‘leaves’, ‘bark’, ‘roots’, ‘brown’, ‘sap’, ‘branches’, ‘flowers’, ‘seeds’, ‘trunk’ etc
However, if you shut your eyes, enter the state of no-mind by putting your focus on the gap after which consciously drop labels a rare factor begins to happen. By letting go of labels you are able to simply be with what is there to be with.
For instance, if you hold a stick in your hand and look into the stick then you would usually be with the labels of the stick like ‘brown’, ‘hard’, ‘light’, stick’, ‘wood’, ‘flexible’ and so on. Nevertheless in the event you let go of these labels in a state of no mind then you can experience what it’s like to merely be with the stick.
When you let go of labels you’ll likely notice and see a lot more detail within the components of nature in front of you. You’ll likely pick up a great deal more of the small particulars. Perhaps that it feels like you’re seeing these elements for your first time. And you can spend a lot of time merely being with your element within your hands.
Meditation is always the most important factor to forming a spiritual connection with the land.

And what I have since found is that this peak spiritual experience of becoming connected and at one with every thing is always there. Even if I feel a perception of anxiety and tension, I understand that underlying these feelings the perception of oneness and connection with all objects within nature is usually there. Just waiting around to tap into again.
For I have been on a 15 yr quest to know what occurred that day and for the weeks afterward. I’ve been to dozens of spiritual workshops, studied countless publications and invested numerous hours in nature meditating, tapping in and recreating the feeling of oneness. From what I’ve found, given the proper conditions and training many people are able to tap into this state inside a couple of hours. It is possible to consciously get out of your mind, into your senses and tap in to the dimension beyond the 1 we normally see.
This fifteen yr quest has resulted in what I these days call The Heart Walk. It works by setting an intention around something you would like clarity on and then immersing your self in the wilderness to tap straight into the wisdom and mystery of the wilderness. You’ll learn how to permit your heart to guide you. You will learn how you can talk with nature and listen to the messages she is constantly giving you. And you will get to feel the perception of oneness and link to all objects that is usually present in nature.
The perception of oneness and connection with all things that day on the beach within the National Park lasted for approximately three weeks. During this time I remember going into a grocery store in a little rural city as I was running low on meals.
I remember sensing what it was to be everybody inside the grocery store. Like my very own perception of identity had dissolved and that I was every thing outdoors of myself.
For instance, I remember a lady in front of a stand of apples and she quickly grabbed the apples, threw them into a plastic bag and rushed off to obtain her next items. And I comprehended why she did this.
But an older guy then went up to the apple stand and slowly picked up an apple. He took his time to assess the apple, to see if there have been any bruises. If there have been any bad spots around the apple. Whether or not it looked like it might be crunchy or floury. And then gradually placed the apple in his plastic bag. And I also understood why he did this.

Personally I’ve found around 95% of the time it is a resounding ‘yes’ to go on the heart walk to where I really feel drawn. I find in most cases it feels like the land is lacking the ceremonies indigenous people once did with it. That it’s lacking the religious connection we used to feel with the land.
Nevertheless sometimes I do get a ‘no’ back from the land. In these cases I usually invest a couple of moments acknowledging the land and thanking it for it’s response and allowing me realize it is not ok at this point in time and respecting it’s choice. Respecting the ‘no’ is vital since the solutions towards the intention you set won’t be discovered in that part within the land.
If you do obtain a ‘no’ from the land, once more spend a while tapping in and see where it is you’re feeling drawn. This will be the immediate place that intuitively comes for you. On the other hand invest time being with this particular part of land in your mind’s eye prior to you get there and ask whether or not it is ok to spend time doing a heart stroll there around your intention. Then it is a matter of listening to the land and respecting the phrases you get back from it.
Another query I often get from individuals eager to do a rite of passage in the wilderness is ‘How many hours will it usually take?’ The answer to that is ‘it depends’.
For instance, the guided heart walks I take individuals on usually go for approximately 4-5 hours based on the group. The vast majority of this time is spent to get the individuals into ‘the zone’. About having them out of their heads, into their senses and into the power that is regularly guiding them. I also spend time guiding them how you can interpret the messages and symbols from nature and the way to combine the insights from your heart stroll into your life.
However, once you have carried out a number of heart walks and therefore are acquainted with entering into ‘the zone’ you then can tap straight into the wilderness almost at will. For instance, on some occasions I have actually walked out of my rear door with an intention, taken two paces in to the lawn and the solution from the wilderness has been right there in front of me.
However I always inform participants to spend so long as they require on the actual walking part of their heart walk. As soon as you are in ‘the zone’ then it generally will take most people less than half an hour to tap into the messages nature was wanting to give them.
Go on a rite of passage in the wilderness and discover your true life objective.

However, I also find that if I go away from the journal entry for a couple of hours, arrive back again and read over it the intention gets to be much more precise the next time around.
After going over my intention for my meditation what I then do is create a summary of the preliminary words I have created. Then I summarize the summary. After which I usually summarize that summary and so on till I whittle the entire journal entry down into only one sentence. This does take some time to do, however as soon as I’ve my intention down into 1 sentence I then copy it in a little journal pad that I will bring with me on my heart walk.
If there are a variety of pressing problems alive for you personally, then it does work to look at numerous intentions in your heart walk. Again, it is great to put power into setting up your intention by spending time to make a journal entry about your intention then whittling your journal entry and thus intention down into one sentence.
I am not sure exactly why placing power into your intention delivers much more clarity to the solutions nature gives you. However it is like an energy is about up. It’s like by putting this power in that nature re-arranges itself so that you can discover the solutions she is wanting to discover with you.
Jotting down a single line sentence intention down right into a small pad then releases the energy out in to the world so that you don’t have to have it sitting within your own thoughts. You release the intention towards the universe to solve for you. This really is carried out through the wilderness. Through the messages she gives to you on your heart walk.
As soon as you have become clear with your intention and also have put power into it, the following component in the heart walk is to discover the location in the wilderness where you will tap in to the knowledge contained within the wild. This location in nature is where you’ll find the solutions around the intention you have set for the heart walk.
Many people generally have an almost instant first impression of where to go. It might be someplace they have been in nature and also have a fond connection with that area in the land. Or it could be somewhere they’ve usually desired to go. Or it may be someplace you have imagined.
However what I discover is that the right location for the heart walk is generally the very first place that comes to mind which you feel drawn to.
Using meditation methods in your nature walk allows you to restore a deeper relationship.

Long prior to contemporary civilization people went on a vision quest and spoke straight with nature. They spoke with the rocks. They spoke directly with the trees. The rivers. And the oceans.
And long prior to modern civilization the rocks, the trees, the rivers and also the oceans spoke back again. A direct communication was had between you and also the spirits inside the wilderness.
Back then the idea of life was that everything is linked. Linked everything was. No separation between you and all of the birds. No distinction of where you ended and the boundary of the ocean started. For the people living on the land had melted. Melted into the wilderness. They had become one. 1 with the wilderness. And the wilderness as well was one. One with them.
For people realized they were the same as the moss around the rocks. They knew they were at the same time the clouds in the sky. The trees along the mountains. And the moss, the clouds and the trees were also them. You simply were everything. Everything was you. Connected. All in the exact same time. For back then we experienced everything coming straight from the same source.
For countless thousands of decades we had been within this conversation. Because for a lengthy time we spoke straight to the groundedness of the rocks. We communicated straight to the spirit in the sunrise. We tapped into the never ending wisdom in the trees. Everything was our brother and sister. Providing us insights. Giving us wisdom. Living as one. The sky above us. The earth beneath.
This is our natural state. To become at one with every thing around us. Like we had for a long time.
But about 10 thousand years ago there was a split. Agriculture sprang forth. Modern civilization started to develop. Gone were the conversations with the plants. Gone again were the conversations directly with the earth. With the stones. And also the rainbows. For the continual pressure to expand and grow took us away from our senses. Towards the stresses and anxieties in the present age. Lost was our innocence.
Yet today viewing a sunset naturally brings back again our perception of awe. Seeing a rainbow naturally brings back again our perception of joy. And listening to rain belt on the tin roof by natural means brings us a perception of being relaxed.
For our pure state is still ingrained inside. It’s imprinted. Hardwired. And using the correct guidance we are able to all tap in once more to the discussions with the wilderness. We can all drop back into the wisdom and oneness. The knowledge and oneness that’s our natural birth rite.
Uncover precisely how to do your personal vision quest immersed in the wonder and mystery of the wilderness.

With relaxation just start becoming conscious in the various sounds inside the body. Of the inner sounds. Spend a while spending time using the internal sounds inside your body.
Subsequently, shift your attention to listen to the sounds instantly outside of your self. Towards the sounds near to you. First of all start to get conscious of the sounds in front of you. Then towards your right. Then behind you. Towards your left and again in front of you. Just like you are sending a radar about you that’s picking up and becoming conscious in the instant sounds surrounding you. Maybe you are able to hear a small bird in front of you. The rustle of a bush towards the right. Perhaps a different type of bird right behind you. And some leaves of the tree blowing within the wind towards the left.
Becoming aware in the immediate sounds bordering you in all directions.
I then shift my focus to also become aware of the little sounds taking place above me. Perhaps there’s another type of bird calling overhead of me. Or perhaps differing types of leaves rustling within the wind. I then spend a few moments being with all the instant sound forms around me. Like a sphere of sound around me in all directions.
Next I actively intend to push my listening outwards whilst maintaining a sense of relaxation. I begin to shift my focus on the sounds taking place a long way away from me. On the distant sounds. Perhaps the sound of a crow within the distance behind me. Or even the shrill of an eagle soaring in the sky higher overhead. Or maybe the low rumble of cars in the distance to my left. I merely aim to push the sphere of sound surrounding me outwards. To push the restriction of my listening outwards to incorporate as many sounds as I can around me. Actively pushing the restriction of my hearing.
As soon as I have pushed the restriction of my listening outwards in all directions, I then pay attention to the habits inside nature. To the organic rhythm of the sound forms within nature. For instance if you’re close to a lake at either dawn or dusk you’ll likely discover numerous differing frog calls. And also you will most likely discover there is a rhythm the frogs croak at. Maybe you will discover the deeper calls from one species is in time with the higher pitched calls of another species.
Or maybe if it is windy you will start to note the wind may be coming through the land in gusts. And the rhythm in the sounds in the trees as the wind arrives. And the way when the gust of wind begins to drop that the sound in the leaves starts to soften. A natural rhythm within the leaves, in tune with the organic rhythm in the wind.
Practice relaxation techniques and discover how to relax and speak with your earth.

I once felt a feeling of enlightenment in the wilderness. Then as I glanced up towards the beach I saw how the whole seaside was made up of these individual grains of sand. Yet it had been the individual grains of sand that were the entire beach.
In that second my consciousness shifted. My consciousness expanded outward to incorporate everything.
I remember knowing there was a lizard sunning itself beside a bush up near the sand dunes. And it felt as though I was that lizard. I could feel how it was for my metabolic process to quicken within the sunlight and how it felt for my scales to rub in opposition to one another after i moved.
At the exact same time there was a sea eagle above. I could feel the way it felt to have wind pushing against my wings and how it felt to look down with my telescope eyes.
And in the same time I was a fish within the ocean near the breakers and I could really feel the way it felt to be moved around within the waves. And the way it felt for water to be pushed along my gills.
I felt all this in the exact same time. Like my awareness was expanded. To incorporate the lizard. The ocean eagle. The fish. Along with the trees, the wind, the ocean. Experiencing every thing. All at the exact same time.
And I could feel what it was like for every factor in my consciousness to experience what it was encountering. I felt how the lizard felt sunning by itself and it’s metabolism to quicken. How it felt for the sea eagle to have wind pushing against its wings. And how it felt for the fish to become immersed inside the ocean.
This experience of being 1 with every thing lasted about 3 weeks and then the sense slowly faded. I remember telling a friend about this at the time and he said ‘Wow, that sounds incredible!’
But I also remember back then replying that it just felt extremely regular. As though this is actually the way we’re meant to feel the world. Becoming everything all at the exact same time. Linked with and being everything.
This feeling of being everything all in the exact same time has stayed with me. I can now drop into this connection and sense of oneness anytime I want to. At will. However it was via becoming alone in the wilderness with out distractions and getting inside a relaxed state of mind that permitted the circumstances for this experience to open to me.
Learn exactly how to find internal peace and enlightenment inside the wilderness.
