Vegetarianism – The Fundamentals

Tuesday, May 10th, 2011

Vegetarians have always had the image of being on the fringe. In the Fifties, they were the Beatniks and in the following decades, they were the Hippies. Vegetarians have always been shown as people with long hair, wearing sandals and clad in clothes woven from natural products. Weirdos, some would say.

However, things have finally been altering over the last ten or twenty years. There are so many vegetarians nowadays that they can no longer be called on the fringe. Everybody knows a vegetarian these days and lots of individuals opt not to eat meat at each meal time.

The fact is that vegetarians come in numerous different levels of vegetarian. There are those who will fairly happily sit at the same table as meat-eaters and there are those who will not. I once shared a house with two vegetarians.

When they went away on vacation for a fortnight, I decided to cook a chicken (something I was not allowed to do whilst they were there). When they returned ten days later, they knew that I had cooked a chicken and I had to promise never to do it again or move out.

Then there are vegetarians who will eat fish and there are those that will not and those who will eat dairy products and eggs, and those that will not. There are numerous levels of vegetarianism, the strictest being veganism, which means no animal protein whatsoever.

This can mean that vegetarians and vegans experience various nutrient deficiencies that are concentrated in meat, fish, milk and cheese. However, it is normally just novices who undergo these issues. Long term vegetarians know the dangers and either eat a very wide-ranging vegetarian diet or take vitamin tablets.

One effective way of replacing animal proteins is by eating beans, pulses, lentils and nuts. This is not an arduous challenge, but it does require more thought than throwing a hamburger on the griddle or barbecue. This is one of the issues for busy vegetarians – preparing food takes a lot longer.

Tofu and other products derived from soya beans are a boon for vegetarians, because it has all the protein one needs and is very versatile. It does not actually have any taste of its own, but it takes on flavours from whatever it is prepared with.

In general, it can be said that vegetarians have to eat more bulk than carnivores, because meat is concentrated vegetables. So, vegetarians normally have to eat more and also eat more varied food yet also make sure that they get all the vitamins that a body needs.

The result of being a vegetarian though is that no animal suffers for you and you get plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, which do not contain a lot of calories. Vegetarians are not usually overweight and they seldom suffer from constipation and the diseases that are linked with eating too much meat, including cholesterol and high blood pressure problems.

Owen Jones, the author of this article, writes on several subjects, and is now concerned with low fat low cholesterol diets. If you would like to know more, please visit our site at http://vegetariancasserolerecipes.com

The Electric Cigarette Is Changing The Way In Which The Country Smokes

Friday, October 29th, 2010

What exactly is an e- cigarette anyways? An e-cigarette or electric cigarette is really a machine an individual uses to acquire nicotine. Imagine the electric cigarette as being a healthier substitute to a classic cigarette. Generally, an individual take a hit off of a smokeless cigarette and you breathe in something which can feel a lot like smoke. Believe it or not you are essentially breathing in in water vapor rather than genuine smoke. I guarantee you are wondering exactly where the nicotine comes in here. Surprisingly that is easy as well. There’s a device inside of the e-cig known as an atomizer. This infuses the water vapor along with nicotine so that you can certainly obtain you’re fix.

Do you comprehend how the e-cig functions currently? If you’re a smoker similar to me then your probably have got a oral fixation or you want to put some thing within your mouth and smoke the item because your hooked to that experience. How will you feel if I shared with you that you simply should exchange that fixation by making use of a affordable water vapor cigarette. On top of that you are certainly not inhaling and exhaling smoke ever again – only water vapor!

The electric cigarette genuinely is an incredible innovation. I seriously doubt anyone would have thought an e-cigarette could ever be thought up. Picture a few years back, could you ever even dreamt of such a device as a electronic cigarette? Now the smokeless cigarettes are just about everywhere you look. Today e-cigarette are on the newspapers, on TV shows, as well as all over the net.

That is not really the only thing the ecig may perform either. I can guess you had no thought that many USA towns have an smoking ban in all of them?

Well you more than likely can’t smoke in the neighborhood pub any longer that is certainly a burden. However, if you are using a ecig you are not smoking real smoke and also hence there is absolutely no ban on e-cigs!

Before you dive into the Vapor Cigarette arena make sure you head on over and take a look at Electronic Cigarette.

Anger Management For Youths

Tuesday, October 5th, 2010

Anger, which is a perfectly normal emotion, can change into something frightening and ugly. The first thought you may have of anger situations may invoke images of a couple fighting, a parent abusing a child, a teenager lashing out at a teacher or a parent. Rarely will images of angry children come to mind. Unfortunately kids, at very young ages, have to cope with feelings of anger and rage. This is a truth which is often very difficult for adults to understand or cope with.

Children, young children especially, aren’t normally aware of their emotions. When children become upset or mad they simply display these emotions through their behaviour. A good instance of this is a little boy in a supermarket who throws a tantrum because he’s upset. Many parents have had to deal with similar circumstances. It is sad that often these occurrences are overlooked or dismissed because they are “just children”. Anger management in kids is just as important, or probably even more important than anger management in adults.

A youth requires instruction and guidance from their coming into the world to their entry into adulthood. The things they learn throughout their young lives are likely to form the person they become as an adult. For this reason, anger management in children with difficulties controlling their temper is extremely important. Finding ways to teach anger management for kids might present challenges.

There are programs made especially for kids with frustration, anxiety and anger management issues. Discovering one that works for a particular child might require testing many methods. Not all youths will react to the same treatment for anger management for kids. Because a child cannot always relate their feelings surrounding angry outburst, finding the right way of tackling it may take some time. Until the issue is resolved or at least controlled, it is imperative to continue the search.

Kids may respond well to worksheets, games and fun activities. All of these can be used to great effect to teach anger management for kids. Developing programs which incorporate each of these methods may be the best way to go. A kid completing a worksheet, colouring sheet or participating in games and activities with underlying messages with regard to anger management for kids, may not even realize they are working on their anger-related problems.

Making the activity fun doesn’t mean that the anger issue has to be left out. Choosing fun activities which teach healthy interaction and decision making might be good for anger management for children. Teaching them to take turns and helping them to learn that they can’t always be the best or the winner would definitely make a difference when confrontational situations occur. Little activities which instill values and positive thinking would be beneficial for anger management in children.

If a child is old enough to talk about their anger problem, encouraging them to share their feelings is important. Suggesting they talk to someone who they feel comfortable with and trust is a good idea regarding anger management in children. Asking them to write or make a drawing about their emotions may help them reveal their underlying problems, whether it be fear, pain or depression.

Teaching them to request help when they feel threatened or angry would certainly help the child with an anger-related problem. The important detail to realize when considering anger management in children are they are just “children”. Their minds are not equipped to handle adult situations and so they will require a more careful approach.

Anger Management Skills

Tuesday, September 28th, 2010

Many learned people, so-called experts, philosophers and the rest, tell us about anger and anger management skills, but do they give you the inside story? There are people all over the world with anger issues, some mild, some extreme and some which are within the normal bounds of the emotion of anger.

We hear about all the symptoms of anger, which include kicking, fighting, slapping, verbally abusing, mentally abusing, and so on. We hear reports from around the world about the many episodes related to violence in the criminal world. Finally, we hear many reports about how to deal with anger using anger management skills.

However, anger is an emotion that acts on impulses. Anger is a good thing, until it becomes uncontrollable. This happens when a person feels discontented and acts on the impulses of his or her emotions radically. However, there are some people who get angry just because they keep putting things off.

You can see it in an example with a person that gets angry with a cable company. Let’s say that this person has been dealing for more than three months with issues involving a cable company, herself and another party. This person was paying a bill which included channels ordered by another person, but the company refused to give her the selection of channels that she had ordered in her own right.

She goes through a series of processes, and finally, after she had done as instructed, the company advised her that she would have to take full responsibility for what had already passed. In other words, she would have to pay for all the channels on the bill, only some of which she had ordered. Now, she was in no position to do much about it since she did not live at the residence. Finally, she blew her top and told the company off, walking quickly out the main entrance, mumbling you stupid idiots.

This person was pushed to anger and this happens all too many times in society these days, yet the world only sees the angry persons. We can look at other theories about anger and anger management skills, and see that the blanks are not filled in. When a person has an anger issue, he or she does not necessarily have that problem everyday. Rather, in most instances the person builds up to the point of exploding.

Often a person will go for a week, month, or even longer before they explode in anger. If the person has mental illness, alcohol or drug problems, this contributes to the anger issues, however in many cases the person does not get that angry every day.

So, we can see that not only do we need to teach anger management skills to contain anger; we also must teach people to approach each problem as it occurs. Procrastination comes in many forms and it includes putting off emotional issues until they are too hot to handle. Many people that are violent because of uncontrolled anger often have a dangerous mental illness underlying their anger. Many people that are angry because of procrastination have a degree of control, and it usually does not lead to violence.

However if a person is pushed hard enough this may occur. Anger is the process of expressing emotions, however when a person is angry they may have difficulty relating to the underlying reason for the anger.

How To Run A Wedding Car Business

Tuesday, July 13th, 2010

Have you ever thought about running a wedding car business? Although it can be demanding, because you do not want to let anybody down on their big day, it is also fascinating and exciting.

Some of the advantages are that you get to own good-looking cars – maybe a Rolls Royce or a Bentley and they are tax-deductible; you meet new people under happy circumstances and you are in the position to help them have a wonderful wedding day.

It is a very demanding industry, because you always have to bear in mind the requirements of your clients and think about how you can fulfill and extend their’ wishes. That is difficult enough, but you also have to remain competitive. I hope that the following tips will be useful.

1] Take care of the conditions under which you keep your vehicles. If you can afford to garage them, they will not collect dust and bird droppings so the paintwork will look better for longer. Do not have a gravel drive, because of possible scratching to the coachwork of the cars.

2] Get one or two really lovely cars. You will need to do a bit of research to find out what couples in your area like, but as a rule of thumb a Rolls Royce or a Bentley are sure bets. Or maybe a stretch limousine. Old vehicles go down well too. Build up your fleet of cars step by step but increasingly. Offer your clients as much choice as you can realistically afford to do.

Many wedding couples will not only need the wedding car, but also vehicles for the guests. Many of them want limousines or old vehicles for their wedding day. But a lot of other cars are required for the guests. Be adaptable and agree to decorate the vehicles according to the couple’s wishes with flowers and ribbons.

2] Employ good, sympathetic personnel. A fully trained chauffeur is a necessity, but a military style chauffeur can add to your firm’s image.

3] It is a good idea to offer different packages or elements that a couple can use to build a package. So, you could offer transportation from the bride’s house to the church as one element. From the church to the restaurant as another element and from there to the chosen hotel, the airport or the railway station, as another element.

4] Make certain that your clients know exactly how long they have exclusive use of the vehicles for. This is useful for them, so that they know exactly how long they have to take photos, eat or chat.

Transportation plays a huge and fundamental part in any wedding day celebrations. In fact, poorly timed or scruffy transportation can ruin a wedding day. If you let that happen, your firm’s standing will suffer badly, particularly in a town or village. You will need a high sense of responsibility; reliable, well-trained, sensitive staff and high quality vehicles that look the part. White wedding cars are popular, but other colours are acceptable, especially for the guests.

Wedding Cakes

Saturday, June 5th, 2010

Nearly every family or social occasion includes the consumption of food and the imbibing or liquids in the celebration. Consider Christmas, birthdays, anniversaries, and weddings. In this article, I would like to talk about that centre piece of the wedding reception: the wedding cake.

The guests come to eat, drink and be merry and the bride’s parents always put a great deal of effort into the organization of the wedding party. The wedding cake is the central point of the top table and the whole reception in general. The wedding cake has traditional importance and it is often thought bad luck not to have a piece of the wedding cake.

There are precise rules for the timing of the cutting of the wedding cake that have become part of tradition. For instance, if the wedding reception takes place at lunch or dinner, it is traditional to cut the wedding cake just before the sweet is presented.

However, if the reception is to take place in the late afternoon or early evening, the cake is served as soon as the guests arrive. In some traditions the bride and groom cut and eat the first slice together as a symbol of their vows to love, honour and obey each other. The remainder of the cake is generally cut by one of the assistants, like the maid of honour or a family relative.

It can be quite hard to choose the wedding cake. Traditionally, people opt for a white cake with white icing for weddings, however nowadays, people are becoming more adventurous and are picking more exotic flavours and colours.

Some couples prefer to have a wedding cake which has different flavours on each layer. While white icing is still the overwhelming favourite, people do order other colours like pink and yellow. Chocolate and mocha are also prevalent. These days you can have what you like. It is your day, after all.

Everybody likes the wedding reception. It is the most well-liked part of the wedding day and everyone looks forward to seeing the cake cut and sharing it with the bride and groom.

If you are thinking about becoming a cake decorator, you have a couple of options to go about it. You could buy a book or a course or get a video in order to teach yourself how to decorate cakes from the simple to the elaborate. You could also go to a night school class to learn the art or cake decoration.

Without a doubt, the very best way to learn cake decorating is to take a class. DVD’s, videos, and books are all well and good, but you cannot converse with them or ask questions. If you take a class for three months or more you will learn more and get a deeper understanding of the art of cake decoration. You will learn how to put real emotion into the decoration of the cake and you will be able to translate the wedding couple’s desires into a cake that you and they can be proud of.

The Ancient Roots Of Barry, South Wales: Part 3.

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

In the Twelfth Century, William de Barri owned Barry Castle, but it was attacked and destroyed by Llewellyn Bren in 1316. It is said that the Cavaliers rebuilt it, but that it was subsequently destroyed again by the Roundheads, never to be rebuilt.

The Norman invaders were thoroughly detested by the local people and they had to build large mansions to defend themselves from frequent assaults on them by the people of the valleys and the mountains. During the reign of Henry III, there were 12 castles within six miles of Barry. In Glamorgan, there were 30 castles and in South Wales as a whole there were 150 !

Porthkerry and the church to its west is said to have taken its name from Ceri, who, it is said, founded a port ‘Port Ceri’. It is believed that Ceri ap Caid, the King of Essyllwg, lived in Porthkerry before the Christian era. His bard, Corvinor, is stated to have been the first to have built a ship with sails and a rudder for the race of Cymru. Some believe that Ceri was a nephew or grandson of Caractacus (Caradog) and that he assumed the head of government in south Wales when Caractacus was sent to Rome.

John Wesley later preached from the Porthkerry Church pulpit, and sometimes outside, in 1741, 1742 and 1743. There are two very old churches still in use today St. Cadocs Church in Cadoxton and Merthyr Dyfan Church in Merthyr Dyfan. 150 years ago, Cadoxton was the largest village in the area: eg in 1844 the Parliamentary register contained 25 names: 20 from Cadoxton and five from Barry. The church was dedicated to St. Cadoc, who used to spend Lent on Flat Holm and Barry Island. The village took its name from the church, which was founded in 800 AD.

Merthyr Dyfan Church, which is situated in the north of Barry, was founded in 600 AD and the name means Dyfan The Martyr. There were two saints of this name. The one travelled to Barry to convert the local people to Christianity and the other lived in the sixth century. He was the son of a Welsh chieftain. His sister was also martyred and the town of Merthyr Tydfil is named in her memory.

The Christian faith grew very quickly in the Vale of Glamorgan and in the middle of the second century, the Prince of Siluria, Llewrwg, became the first king, of any country in the world in all history, to be baptized into the Christian faith. He sent to Rome for more Chritian teachers and was sent two monks named Dyfan and Fagan. Dyfan was martyred near the church and the Fagan was canonized. St. Fagan’s situated between Barry and Cardiff was named after him.

Tuesday, May 11th, 2010

Anger is an issue which seems to be revealing concern among many people nowadays. Perhaps that is because it is an issue which affects all generations, races, communities. In fact, anger has the potential to touch anybody without prejudice.

It is frightening for those who have to experience anger every day. Anger not only involves the person affected but also all those they come into contact with every day. Assuring the person that they have people to count on, people who will stand by them no matter what may arise, this is extremely relevant to people who are fighting every day to overcome problems with anger. Encouragement is also important. Encouraging the individual to attend support group meetings, talk to a counsellor or read an anger management article may make a huge difference in their treatment.

Yes, society appears to have a massive problem with violence, aggression, frustration and anger but, society is also attempting to create anger management programs to help decrease this sociological problem. What Anger Management Technique is there?

Thursday, May 6th, 2010

Dealing with anger is never easy, since people always have to face problems and reasons for conflict but our anger management technique is crucial. We have to deal with price increases, arguments, war, violence, crime, everyday common stupidity and continuous interruptions. There is not one person in this sometimes difficult world that has not gotten mad at some point.

Anger is an emotion that we all have to cope with. But anger comes in many forms: the root of anger is hatred, anxiety or frustration as a result of previous deception or disappointment, comes from bad anger management technique. This is true. However, true or not, even in the Bible it says that when the first man and woman were created on Earth, the first problem was when the Devil, in the form of a snake, lied, deceiving Eve. Once that lie became known, the world started suffering many problems, including violence, murder, war, shortages, disease, weather disasters and so forth.

Ever since that first famous lie, the world has become more and more unpredictable and continues to worsen as the years roll by. We can examine how a lie can instigate anger by looking at an individual case – a person engaged in criminal activities, such as stealing, writing bad checks, and selling prescription medications. Now this person had to deceive, since she felt that her behaviour and actions were her only possible means of getting through life.

So, she started lying to cover up her wrong-doing. As the years went by, that person became angry and could not deal with life, simply as a result of her under-developed anger management technique, the way she was behaving, her way of thinking, etc. She began to act as anyone else suffering from uncontrolled anger would act.

This included, undermining others, insulting others, verbally and physically assaulting, threatening, belittling, mocking, et cetera. The woman was diagnosed with mental illness, including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Bipolar. She also had health issues, including diabetes. Now, if we examine all the aspects of that person’s anger and anger management technique, we can see, if we search deep enough, that her lying, which caused paranoia, was the basic reason for her behavioral problems.

A lot of people have a problem with their anger management technique. Many of the people with post-traumatic stress disorder behave angrily because they are reacting to a flashback in memory. That is right! People with post traumatic stress disorder often repress their emotions and when they are violent or angered, it is often the result of fighting the sources that caused their trauma and not the person in their immediate presence.

However, we do not see this as the reason for the woman’s anger, since she did not show signs of it to the public. Therefore, people would exclude posttraumatic stress disorder as the cause, or at least skip over the possibility of it. Now let’s take a look at diabetes, since this illness affects the nerves. The shortage of insulin creates additional problems, and many people with diabetes will become upset for little or no reason at all.

However, most people do not act angrily, assault, insult or attack others . If we look at the reason crimes are committed, we see that very often, serious behavioural problems come from lying. Therefore, when we look at this woman’s case again, we can see that we have to deal with the underlying problems ie to stop her from lying and get her to move forward, avoiding bouts of frustration, anxiety and anger by employing an anger management technique.

Now, the person is in denial, which means that until the legal system makes her take steps in anger management technique, then she probably will not get help herself. In addition, even if the criminal justice system does force her to get help, it probably will not work, since her denial has existed for probably many years. Now we are dealing with a real anger problem, since her behaviour is life long, which means extensive therapy is needed.

Anger is a normal emotion, but when it interferes with someone else’s life, it becomes a serious problem. This person is not hurting only one person, she is hurting everyone, since when she steals or writes bad cheques, society picks up the tab through tax increases, as well as other increases. One of the worst problems that I have noticed with this type of person, is that the system and society allows it to continue; only attempting to deal with it when the person is in custody. Once the person is released, then it starts again. This is a chain of events involving lack of control due to anger mis-management and bad anger management technique.
