It is one thing to own a brand new hot, gleaming car from the showroom, and another to own one after it has run over rough roads for thousands of miles.

In essence, hybrid electric cars have two engines: a conventional petrol or diesel engine (the same as you would find in any modern car and an electric, battery powered engine, as you might find in a milk float or a forklift truck. You should never need to recharge your car’s batteries overnight as they do with forklift trucks.
There are in essence two sorts of hybrid cars: the semi hybrids and the full hybrids.
The semi hybrids have the same sort of set up: two engines, one running on liquid fuel and the other running on batteries, but the electric motor is not capable of running the car on its own. It is there to ‘assist’ the petrol or diesel engine.
In this type of hybrid, the electric motor is called an ‘assist’. These semi hybrids will save money on fuel, but whilst the car is moving, you are burning fuel all the time.
The main difference when it comes to the full hybrid is that both engines are capable of powering the car autonomously. Whilst you are running on electricity, you are running at zero expense to your wallet and at zero expense to the environment, unless you are actually pushing the car and then both engines might be working in union.
This switching of power sources is done robotically without any intrusion from the driver. In the case of the Prius, for example, this extraordinary achievement is accomplished by what Ford calls its Hybrid Synergy Drive. Other businesses have their equivalent to the HSD.

So, how do you go about establishing your own used car business? Each vehicle is allowed two laps to establish its speed; the faster time will be its entry into the qualifiers for the actual starting places. Drivers have different strategies for these two laps, but one common strategy is to make use of the exterior lane of the track for the first lap.
This allows the sports car to travel more distance and therefore warm up more. The second lap can then be raced along the fastest lines giving a better qualifying time.
Another approach, albeit a less conventional one, is to forego the second lap because it reduces the strain on the car giving it a better chance in the final, actual race. This is a dangerous approach which not many drivers decide to undertake.
Qualifying results for NASCAR races are based exclusively on the length of time it takes to finish a lap. This clearly has to do with speed, but the actual highest speed over a short distance is not taken into account.
If there is a tie for a position, times are compared down to 0.001 (one-thousandth) of a second. If there is still a draw, then the winner is the driver with the highest number of points in the season thus far.
The media has a tendency to describe racing results in miles per hour (MPH) which is certainly tracked, but it does not establish the winner. The winner is the one with the fastest lap time, which can also be converted into an overall speed.
Because the media give details of the results in this way, the general public has a tendency to believe that the vehicle achieving the highest MPH will be the winner, but that is false or at least not the whole story.
Sometimes the qualifying rounds have to be cancelled, most often due to very bad weather conditions, then the NASCAR qualifying positions are based on the owner?s previous amount of points.
